And a timer that loses the hour after a power interruption quietly shifts the whole cycle, so filtration runs at the wrong time or, in the worst case, barely at all.

The unifying problem is not the fault but the absence of anyone to notice it. A trip that would be spotted within minutes in an occupied house goes unnoticed until someone opens the gate in April.

What fixes it is monitoring rather than better equipment. Anything that reports the state of the filtration circuit remotely — a simple contactor status, a smart plug, a controller with connectivity — converts a discovered disaster into a message. It is inexpensive, it is rarely fitted, and on a seasonally occupied property with a pool it pays for itself the first time it catches a trip in January.
