Electrician in Elche

The one town we cover where three-phase supply is normal rather than unusual — and where a large share of the work is commercial rather than domestic.

Elche is different from the rest of our area in one structural way: it is a working industrial town, not a coastal residential one. Alongside the housing there are footwear workshops, warehouses and the industrial estates at Carrús, Altabix and Torrellano, and a great deal of that stock runs on three-phase supply.

That changes the work. In a coastal apartment the question is usually whether the contracted power can absorb one more appliance. In an Elche workshop it is more often about motor loads, phase balance and what happens to the rest of the unit when one machine starts.

Why three-phase changes what is possible here

Three-phase supply means faster car charging is genuinely available. 11 kW and 22 kW charging both need it, and in Elche the supply is often already there — in a workshop, a warehouse or a ground-floor commercial unit converted to other use. Everywhere else we work, most properties are single phase and 7.4 kW is the practical ceiling.

It also changes how motor loads behave. A machine, a compressor or a large air conditioning system starting on three phase draws differently from the same load on a single-phase supply, and problems that look like a fault are sometimes a balance issue — one phase carrying substantially more than the other two, which shows up as flickering, nuisance tripping or equipment running hot.

Where a unit has grown organically over years, the imbalance is usually the accumulation of additions each made on whichever phase was nearest at the time. Measuring the three phases under real load is the first thing we do, and it frequently explains a fault that has been treated as random for months.

Ground-floor commercial units and change of use

Elche has a lot of ground-floor premises that started as one thing and became another — a workshop that is now a shop, a storeroom that is now a gym, a garage that is now a flat. The electrical installation almost never gets fully reconsidered when that happens, and it is a recurring source of the work we do.

The specific problem is that the circuit design reflects the old use. A workshop wired for a few large machines has heavy circuits in the wrong places and nothing where a modern use needs sockets. Adding to it piecemeal produces exactly the overloaded, unbalanced board described above.

Where a premises is genuinely changing use rather than just changing tenant, the honest answer is often a designed installation rather than an extension of what is there. We will say so, including when it is the more expensive answer.

Homes in Elche

The residential work here is closer to Alicante: older blocks in the centre and around the palm groves with boards that have run out of capacity, and newer developments on the edges where the calls are about additions rather than faults.

One local difference is distance. Elche is the furthest point west in the area we cover, and for emergencies that sits at the longer end of our 60 to 90 minute window rather than the short end. We tell you the realistic time on the call.

Common questions

Do you work on industrial units and workshops, not just homes?

Yes, and in Elche that is a large share of the work. Three-phase supplies, motor loads, phase balance and commercial premises are routine here in a way they are not in the coastal towns we cover.

Can I have a fast 22 kW car charger in Elche?

If the premises has a three-phase supply, which is common in workshops and industrial units here, then yes. In an ordinary single-phase home 7.4 kW is the ceiling — and worth checking your car can even accept 22 kW before paying for it.

The lights dim whenever a machine starts. Is that serious?

It is worth measuring. On a three-phase supply it often points to phase imbalance, where one phase carries much more load than the others because additions were made to whichever was nearest. It can also be a supply or connection issue, and the measurement distinguishes them.

How long does it take you to reach Elche in an emergency?

Elche is the furthest west we go, so it sits at the longer end of our 60 to 90 minute window rather than the short end. We give you the realistic figure when you call rather than the optimistic one.
