What the community can and cannot decide

In a comunidad de propietarios you have the right to install a charging point in your own parking space, and the community cannot refuse it. What the law requires of you is prior written notification, not permission. That distinction surprises a great many owners in this city, because it is common to be told at a junta that the matter has to be voted on.

It does not. The vote that a community can legitimately hold is about communal installations — a shared pre-installation serving every space, for example — not about whether you personally may install a point in the space you own. If you have been told otherwise, the notification is still the correct step.

What genuinely does need agreeing is practical rather than legal: the cable route through communal areas, where containment can be fixed, and above all how the point is metered. The clean answer is an individual supply or a dedicated meter for the charging point, so the consumption appears on your bill. Hanging the charger off the communal supply and settling up informally is where the disputes we get called into always start.
