When an estate can have a view about your panels

On a detached house you own the roof, and nothing about a solar installation requires your neighbours to agree. That is the important starting point and it is different from an apartment block, where the roof is communal.

What can still apply is the urbanisation. Planned estates frequently have statutes or covenants regulating the external appearance of properties — what may be built, what may be visible from the street, sometimes even colours and materials. Shifting filtration to the middle of the day is the cheapest way to raise self-consumption on a house like this, and it costs nothing but changing a timer.
