The order matters. Only once that last step completes does the compensation for exported surplus actually start appearing on your bill.

What this means in practice is that the panels generate from the day they are commissioned, and you save on what you consume directly from that moment — but the credit for what you export lags until the registration completes. Nobody is losing anything permanently, but it is worth knowing so that a first bill does not come as a surprise.

Two things speed it up. First, having the supply details, the CUPS number and the ownership documentation ready at the start rather than being asked for them halfway through. Second, not changing the design after the documentation has been prepared, because a change to installed capacity means the paperwork restarts. We ask for everything up front for exactly this reason.
